My name is Guthrie Devine and I’m a digital artist living just outside the Greater Los Angeles area, specializing in surrealism, as well as an artistic photographer (which is to say, I don’t do portraits or event photography, so don’t ask). I also do some graphic design and illustration—both on commission and as the unofficial in-house graphic designer at my real job, as well as the occasional movie poster just for practice—and am starting to dabble in a few other mediums.
I am also a part-time student at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.
If you’re wondering where the name “BrokenEye” came from… well, I could tell you, but I’m not sure how much it’d help. The broken eye was an emblem I created for a character I came up with in high school. I liked the logo and its name so much that I kept them for myself and later scrapped the character. At this point I remember almost nothing about him, but that’s okay since now that “BrokenEye” means me, any attempt to re-introduce the character would be really awkward anyhow. BrokenEye has since become my unofficial, and more recently, official “brand” for all my work across multiple mediums and for my presence here on the interconnected computer network. The emblem has evolved quite a bit since then, roughly parallel to my artistic tastes and abilities, culminating a total redesign in March of 2013.
